Paediatric & Elderly Care

From supporting growing bodies and adolescent posture to helping seniors manage osteoarthritis and maintain mobility, we provide gentle, individualised chiropractic care tailored to the unique biomechanics of developing and ageing bodies.

Age-Appropriate, Highly Modified Care

Treating a 2-month-old, an 8-year-old or an 80-year-old requires a very different clinical approach to treating a 30-year-old athlete. Developing joints and ageing bodies require precision, gentleness and an understanding of how the musculoskeletal system changes throughout life.

We do not use aggressive or forceful techniques on growing or fragile bodies. Instead, we utilise highly modified, low-force techniques—including gentle manual therapy and instrument-assisted adjustments—tailored to the individual’s age, presentation and clinical needs.

Paediatric & Adolescent Care

Children and teenagers place significant demands on their growing bodies through rapid growth, school, sport and everyday activities. We focus on assessing movement, posture and musculoskeletal function during these important developmental years.

We commonly manage:

Colic

Providing gentle assessment of an infant's movement, comfort and musculoskeletal function. Where appropriate, chiropractic care may help improve comfort and support overall wellbeing as part of a collaborative approach alongside your healthcare providers.

Tongue Tie

Assessing neck, jaw and upper body movement that may contribute to feeding difficulties. Chiropractic care does not treat tongue tie itself but may help optimise musculoskeletal function and complement management alongside lactation consultants and other healthcare professionals.

Fussiness

Assessing musculoskeletal tension, movement patterns and physical comfort in unsettled infants. Gentle, age-appropriate chiropractic care may assist with comfort and support normal movement while working alongside your family's healthcare team.

Sleeping Issues

Evaluating spinal movement, posture and musculoskeletal function in infants and young children experiencing disrupted sleep. Where appropriate, gentle chiropractic care may help improve physical comfort, which can support better settling and sleep routines.

Crawling & Developmental Milestones

Assessing movement patterns, coordination and musculoskeletal function during key stages of development. We aim to support healthy movement and address any physical restrictions that may affect crawling, balance or age-appropriate motor development.

Postural Dysfunction

Supporting children and teenagers experiencing postural changes associated with prolonged sitting, schoolwork and device use.

Scoliosis & Spinal Curvatures

Assessing and monitoring spinal posture during periods of rapid growth and, where appropriate, providing conservative chiropractic management as part of an individualised care plan.

Adolescent Sports Injuries

Managing musculoskeletal injuries such as joint sprains, muscle strains and movement dysfunctions to help young athletes return to activity safely.

Leg Length Inequality

Assessing structural or functional leg length differences that may contribute to altered movement patterns or musculoskeletal discomfort.

Note: Chiropractic care for children is very different from treatment for adults. We use gentle, age-appropriate techniques that are carefully adapted to each child’s size, stage of development and individual presentation.

Elderly & Geriatric Care

As we age, joints naturally become stiffer and age-related changes such as osteoarthritis become more common. While these changes cannot be reversed, chiropractic care may help improve joint mobility, reduce musculoskeletal discomfort and support everyday movement.

We commonly provide care for:

Osteoarthritis & Joint Degeneration

Using gentle mobilisation and chiropractic techniques to help improve joint mobility and support comfortable movement.

Chronic Lower Back & Neck Pain

Supporting the management of persistent musculoskeletal pain through individualised chiropractic care and movement advice.

Balance & Mobility

Supporting joint mobility, movement awareness and functional stability to help older adults remain active and independent.

Age-Related Postural Changes

Assessing posture, spinal mobility and movement patterns that may change with age. Gentle chiropractic care aims to support improved posture, flexibility and everyday function, helping older adults move with greater comfort and confidence.

The Activator Method: Low-Force Precision

For many older patients—particularly those with osteoporosis, osteopenia or significant joint degeneration—we may utilise the Activator Method®. This specialised hand-held instrument delivers a gentle, low-force adjustment without the need for manual twisting techniques.

The Activator Method® allows us to provide chiropractic care using an approach that may be appropriate for patients who require a lower-force technique.

Integrated Support for Kids & Seniors

Our multidisciplinary approach extends across every stage of life.

For Seniors

Musculoskeletal health is influenced by many factors, including movement, nutrition and lifestyle. Where appropriate, our naturopath works alongside your chiropractor to provide personalised dietary advice, lifestyle recommendations and nutritional support, which may include practitioner-only supplements.

Our remedial massage therapists can also assist with managing muscular tension and supporting comfort and mobility.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it safe to adjust a child or a senior with osteoporosis?

Yes. Safety is always our priority. Every patient receives a comprehensive assessment before treatment begins.

For children, we use gentle, age-appropriate techniques. For older adults with reduced bone density or osteoporosis, treatment is modified accordingly and may include low-force approaches such as the Activator Method® where clinically appropriate.

Routine imaging is not required for every patient.

If your assessment indicates that imaging may be clinically appropriate—for example, when investigating scoliosis or significant degenerative changes—we’ll refer you to your GP or the appropriate healthcare provider for further assessment and imaging if required.

No. There is currently no cure for osteoarthritis.

However, chiropractic care may assist in managing musculoskeletal symptoms associated with osteoarthritis by supporting joint mobility, movement and overall function as part of an individualised management plan.

In many cases, yes.

Following your comprehensive assessment, if it is clinically appropriate and safe to do so, treatment may begin during your initial consultation. If further investigation is required before treatment, we’ll explain your options and discuss the next steps with you.
