Fixing the Mechanical Problem
Long FIFO rosters, repetitive lifting, physically demanding work and prolonged desk-based posture can all contribute to persistent muscle tension and reduced mobility. Over time, muscles and surrounding connective tissues may become tight, leading to stiffness, discomfort and restricted movement.
Remedial and deep tissue massage aims to address these musculoskeletal concerns through an individualised, assessment-based approach.
Rather than following a standard routine, your therapist will assess your posture, discuss your symptoms and evaluate your movement before tailoring treatment to your specific needs. Using appropriate techniques and pressure, we aim to reduce muscle tension, improve soft tissue mobility and support your body’s natural movement.

Conditions We Commonly Manage
Remedial massage may assist in the management of a variety of musculoskeletal conditions, including:
Chronic Neck & Shoulder Tension
Helping reduce muscular tightness associated with prolonged desk work, driving and physically demanding occupations.
Tension Headaches
Addressing muscular tension around the neck, shoulders and upper back that may contribute to tension-type headaches.
Lower Back Pain & Sciatica
Supporting the management of muscular tightness affecting the lower back, hips and gluteal region that may contribute to movement-related discomfort.
Postural Muscle Imbalances
Helping improve flexibility and mobility in muscles that have become shortened or overactive through repetitive postures or movement patterns.
Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI)
Supporting recovery from overuse-related muscular conditions associated with repetitive work, sport or everyday activities.
Our Techniques
Your treatment may incorporate a combination of evidence-informed soft tissue techniques, including:
Deep Tissue Massage
Firm, sustained pressure applied to deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue to address persistent muscular tension.
Trigger Point Therapy
Targeted pressure applied to sensitive areas within muscle tissue that may contribute to local or referred discomfort.
Myofascial Release
Gentle, sustained techniques designed to improve mobility within the body's connective tissues and support natural movement.
Cross-Fibre Friction
A specialised soft tissue technique that may be used to assist the management of tendon and ligament-related conditions where clinically appropriate.
The Chiropractic Advantage
As part of our multidisciplinary clinic, our massage therapists work closely with our chiropractors to provide coordinated care.
For some patients, reducing muscular tension before a chiropractic appointment may help improve comfort during treatment and assist the chiropractor in assessing and managing joint movement more effectively.
Many patients choose to book a remedial massage immediately before their chiropractic consultation as part of their individual treatment plan.
Your practitioner will recommend the approach most appropriate for your presentation and healthcare goals.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Remedial and Deep Tissue Massage?
Deep tissue massage refers to the use of firmer pressure to address deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue.
Remedial massage is an assessment-based form of treatment where your therapist evaluates your symptoms and movement before selecting the most appropriate techniques for your individual needs. These may include deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, stretching and other soft tissue techniques.
Does remedial or deep tissue massage hurt?
These treatments often involve firmer pressure than a relaxation massage and may produce a deep aching sensation over tight muscles.
Your therapist will communicate with you throughout the session to ensure the pressure remains comfortable and appropriate for your tolerance.
How will I feel the next day?
It is common to experience mild muscle tenderness for up to 24–48 hours following a deeper massage treatment, similar to the feeling after strenuous exercise.
This response is usually temporary. Staying hydrated and following your therapist’s aftercare recommendations may assist your recovery.
Do I have to undress completely?
No.
You’ll only be asked to undress to your level of comfort, usually leaving your underwear on. Professional draping is maintained throughout the entire treatment, and only the area being treated will be uncovered, ensuring your privacy, dignity and comfort at all times.
